May Issue

Hello ADORNO friends,
Thanks for joining us for our Bang on a Door (no) concert in April. On May 18th and 19th, we will wrap up our season with a number-crunching concert curated by our bassist, Bill Everett, in “101″. The program will feature works by composers that have been inspired by math and numbers with pieces by Charles Wuorinen, Iannis Xenakis, Conlon Nancarrow, and Tamar Diesendruck. To hear some of what this concert will be like, be sure to check out our youtube video here of Nancarrow’s Player Piano studies in his wacky, discombobulated “boogie woogie”. Recommend other related videos about our program to us, and we’ll add them onto our site! Read on further about our featured composers in this month’s issue.
Also coming up, the group will present selected works by students at SF State University on May 8th. As part of ADORNO’s residency at SF State, students had the opportunity to work with ADORNO members in their studies. We are excited to be working with these hard-working aspiring musicians. Please join us in support!
Warm regards,
Cynthia Mei

Hello ADORNO friends,
Welcome to our March/April issue of Pith Music Magazine. The group will be performing at the popular Switchboard Music Festival on March 29th. It is an honor for us to be joined by some of the most innovative musicians all gathering together in San Francisco for an eclectic music marathon. We’ll follow this concert with “Bang on a Door (no)” on April 24th at Knuth Hall at SF State University. Please read on about our featured composers for the exciting upcoming April concert, which is curated by ADORNO’s clarinetist Jeff Anderle.
Enjoy, and we hope to see you all soon.
Cheers,

Pith Music: December
October 2, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Welcome to Pith Music, ADORNO Ensemble’s online magazine.
Our second issue focuses on our upcoming concert, “Elastic Band” on January 16th at Cain Schulte Gallery in San Francisco. Join us for a fun and exciting event that will feature music inspired by the early psychedelic rock of the Beatles and contemporary art-music. Also, we introduce the beginnings of Pith Radio, our new home for ADORNO’s podcast series.
It is December and in these difficult times, we need your help more than ever. Right now and through January, supporters can sponsor Pith Music for a nominal donation and receive ad space in return. We are running this special in which (for a tax-deductible $60) you will receive a 125×125 ad space for your company or organization for two months. If you do not have a 125×125 image, we can create one for you, at no extra cost. Things will look up once again, and we want to prepare for it by keeping people connected.
Your donation (of any size!) will help ADORNO continue it’s online publications and concerts.
Have a wonderful holiday season, and enjoy Pith Music.
Many thanks and cheers to a happy new year,
Cynthia Mei
Artistic Director
